01-20-2008 - First Meeting Summary, Second Meeting Date Set
At our first meeting on October 12th, we basically expressed what we would like the reunion to look like and that it would the best reunion ever. We agreed that even though we have a head start on our database, it will still take a huge effort to get everyone to come. Our goal is to create so much excitement that it will be an event no one will want to miss. One of the ways to do this would be to have the Friday night mixer at an unusual place that people would want to see anyway. We will also work on finding sponsors for souvenirs such as caps, shirts, coffee cups, shot glasses, etc, and sponsors for events such as a Saturday morning golf tournament. This could be followed up with a luncheon at the country club for all. Saturday night will be the main event. The format will be geared for people to reconnect. Again, we will need to make certain this event is something no one would want to miss. Finally, we will encourage as many classmates as possible to rent rooms at the chosen hotel so that everyone can visit long after the Saturday night party is over. All of this will be capped off with an informal Sunday morning brunch and farewells. All of our activities will hinge on how well we are able to finance our plans. Donations and discounts will be sought out by our Finance committee as well as by everyone to keep the cost per person as low as possible. We will call on our fellow classmates to use their influence and expertise to help mitigate expenses.
We talked about the Committee At Large which will be made up of people that will fill in where needed. We also discussed the Volunteer Corps that will be made up of our grown children and perhaps classmates from the years before and after us. The Volunteer Corps will help with most of the duties during the reunion so that all classmates can enjoy the reunion.
Our goal by the next meeting, which is set for March 22, 2008, will be to have the committees up and running. We will finalize our “grand plan” and start working out the details. At that point, the clock will begin ticking and timelines will be set. As the excitement builds, 2009 cannot come soon enough! However our early start does allow many of us more time to shed a few pounds!!

06-22-2007 - New RHS School Building Slated for 2009
As of October of 2006 the citizens of B.I.S.D. overwhelmingly voted to build a New Richland High School. It will be located in the west parking lot, of course in our day it was the wheat field. The New edition built in 1992 will stay but will be redone as well as the auditorium. The old part, including that ratty gym will be torn down after the building has been constructed. The great thing about this is that it is scheduled to open Fall of 2009. I am currently a teacher at Richland and believe me it is long overdue. Richland will be the showcase for the B.I.S.D. It is exciting as there is a new energy at RHS. It is a great place to work. Just FYI, Haltom still sucks Be True Stay Blue Richland High School don cox 'rhs69'.
